A new restaurant has opened in Bearsden, bringing Indian street food, tandoor cooking and cocktails to a welcoming space near Hillfoot Train Station.
Ember & Fire Lounge is led by Vikram Nanda, whose family of Scottish restaurateurs already serves guests across West Lothian. Now, he is bringing that same enthusiasm for food and hospitality to Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, with a venue designed to work as a café, bar and restaurant beneath one roof.
From a lunchtime chai to the last cocktail of the evening, the lounge offers plenty of reasons to drop in, settle down and explore a menu built around tikka, chaat and spice.

At the heart of its approach is a simple philosophy: cooking with fire gives food character.
The tandoor brings charred edges to paneer, chicken, prawns and lamb, while biryanis are sealed and slowly steamed in traditional copper handi pots. Chaat adds another dimension, with bright flavours, contrasting textures and dishes made to order, inspired by the street stalls of Delhi and Mumbai.
“Real fire. Fresh spice. Made for sharing” sums up the kitchen’s ambition, with a menu that encourages guests to discover different dishes together.
Scottish salmon and seasonal produce are used wherever possible, connecting Indian cooking traditions with ingredients available closer to home.
The menu also clearly identifies vegetarian and vegan choices, alongside information about nuts and spice levels, helping guests make informed choices.

For Vikram, the opening brings his family’s restaurant experience to a new community, with an offering that spans a casual daytime visit, an evening meal or drinks with friends.

Ember & Fire Lounge is open Monday and Wednesday to Sunday, from 12pm until 10pm. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
