Contractors are to return to Buttertubs Pass, in the Yorkshire Dales, after concerns were raised about the new 'cats eye' road studs being 'too high' and possibly leading to some motorists 'feeling the bump'.

Muker Parish Council is understood to have raised the issue with North Yorkshire Council about some of the reflective road studs in the centre of the road standing higher than they should following work to the road, including resurfacing and the re-painting of the road markings, and reinstatement of the cat's eyes.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Council said: "Following concerns raised about the installation of the road studs on Buttertubs Pass, we have reviewed the works and arranged for our contractor to return to site on November 15 to carry out remedial work.

"As part of these works, the contractor will remove and correctly reinstate the studs where required."

Buttertubs Pass, near Hawes, crosses the high moorland between Wensleydale and Swaledale and featured as the second King of the Mountains climb of the 2024 Grand Depart of the Tour de France cycle race.
