A major roundabout close to a popular shopping park in York is set to fully reopen following the completion of highway works.

Improvements at Monks Cross are scheduled to finish on Friday (November 6), with the northern roundabout reopening and two-way access restored on Monks Cross Link.

The project, delivered by Redrow Yorkshire, included new water, electricity, and telecommunications connections, as well as a new sub-station.

A Redrow Yorkshire spokesperson said: "We're pleased to confirm that the roundabout and associated highway works will be completed as planned, allowing Monks Cross Link to fully reopen on Friday, November 6.

"We recognise that the works have caused disruption for local residents, businesses, and road users, and we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding throughout the programme.

"These improvements deliver important infrastructure for the area, supporting new homes, future growth, and improved connectivity, while ensuring the road network is ready to serve the community for years to come."

The final phase involves fully surfacing carriageways and completing road markings.

The reopening marks the end of the main highway programme and the lifting of traffic restrictions.

Minor works will continue off the carriageway, including street lighting and landscaping, but these will not require further road closures or traffic restrictions.

City of York Council has been working alongside Redrow to minimise disruption during the project.

A council spokesperson said: "The council has worked closely with Redrow throughout the project to help plan the works and minimise disruption where possible.

"Council teams have monitored traffic conditions and worked with Redrow and its contractors to manage traffic during the construction period.

"We will continue to work together to support the delivery of much-needed housing while seeking to reduce the impact of construction activity on residents, commuters, visitors, and businesses."
