New Wickes store concept opens in North Yorkshire town creating 21 jobs

A new Wickes store has opened, bringing fresh job opportunities and home improvement inspiration to the community.
The branch on Ripon Road in Harrogate, officially opened its doors this morning (WED), and was inaugurated by Harrogate councillor Viv Poskit.
It features the retailer’s new small store format to date, combining a full range of DIY products with expert advice and a dedicated kitchen and bathroom showroom.

"Our new small format store has been designed to make the most of the space, with a dedicated Kitchen and Bathroom showroom to help customers find inspiration and plan their projects with confidence.
"We’re also pleased to welcome 21 colleagues to the team and look forward to supporting local homeowners and trade professionals with their home improvement projects."
Nineteen of the 21 new employees have been hired externally.
The store covers 10,835 sq ft of ground floor space and includes a 3,200 sq ft mezzanine showroom for kitchens and bathrooms.
It offers Wickes’ full range of design services, including free consultations with design consultants and access to the company’s installation service.
Customers can also use the retailer’s 15-minute click and collect service, as well as rapid delivery within three hours of ordering for a £6 fee.

The Harrogate location includes 100 rooftop solar panels, generating an estimated 41,880kWh of renewable electricity each year.
This supports Wickes’ ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote more sustainable retail operations.
The store stocks a wide range of products for both trade and DIY customers, including timber, power tools and cement from brands such as Bosch, Blue Circle and Knauf.
TradePro members benefit from a 10 per cent discount on every purchase, along with exclusive perks, fuel savings and ongoing rewards.
To celebrate the opening, customers can enjoy 15 per cent off all in-store purchases from Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1.
Wickes will also host a special decorating event with Dulux on Saturday, October 31.
Visitors will have the chance to meet the iconic Dulux dog, enter a competition to win Dulux merchandise and gather inspiration for their next project.
