A Strictly star is set for a new career move as she joins the cast of a popular US series.

Shirley Ballas is reportedly set to appear as a guest judge on Dancing With The Stars.

Reports suggest that the Strictly Come Dancing head judge will fly to Los Angeles later this month to film the show.

She will be following in the footsteps of former Strictly judges Bruno Tonioli and the late Len Goodman, who worked on both programmes for more than a decade.

Strictly's Shirley Ballas joining cast of Dancing with the Stars

A source told The Sun: "Shirley will fly to the US later this month after the Strictly live show finishes.

"She will then film Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, before flying back to the UK for Strictly the following day.

"It’s a whirlwind schedule but she jumped at the chance to take part."

Ms Ballas, who joined Strictly as head judge in 2017, recently appeared on the US spin-off Dancing With The Stars: The Next Pro, where she served as a judge alongside her son Mark, a professional dancer on the main show.

A source said: "TV bosses in the US loved Shirley on the spin-off.

"That’s why they booked her for the main run.

"She translated so well with the American audience and rated really well."

While this guest appearance is currently planned as a one-off, insiders have suggested it could lead to further opportunities.

The source added: "This is just a one-off for this run but if the US TV bosses think Shirley is a hit, they're sure to see if she would come back."

Mr Tonioli and Mr Goodman were original judges on both Strictly and Dancing With The Stars, with the US version launching a year after the UK show in 2005.

Anton Du Beke's new career move away from Strictly

In other Strictly Come Dancing news, judge Anton Du Beke is stepping into the festive spotlight.

He has announced a Christmas single, Dance My Way To Christmas, which he co-wrote and will perform during his upcoming UK show, Anton At Christmas.

The swing track will be released in November and featured during his limited-run tour, which includes dates in London, Watford, Oxford, Liverpool, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Bournemouth and Brighton from December 10 to 22.

He said: "Launching a Christmas single is something I've always wanted to do, for as long as I can remember.

"For me, Christmas is the most magical time of year and the music played is a huge part of that and what makes it so memorable.

"All the favourites are rolled out, and for Dance My Way To Christmas to possibly be part of the seasonal playlists is a dream come true."

The song, first shared on YouTube last year, was co-written with Jacqui Hicks and features vocals from Lance Ellington.

Mr Du Beke added: "When we got into the studio with the band and Lance, it was everything I could have dreamed of.
