A popular Queensbury bakery has refunded customers after admitting a batch of its vanilla slices fell below the standards expected by the business.
Marshall's Bakehouse, on High Street, issued an apology on social media after identifying what it described as a "technical issue" with its original Bert vanilla slices.
The bakery said customers who purchased the product before 11.30am were automatically reimbursed.
In a statement posted online shortly after midday on Tuesday, the business said: "We had a technical issue with our original Bert vanilla slices this morning, and it wasn't caught before they were put out for sale.
"To put it simply they were soggy and not good enough."

Customers refunded
The bakery said refunds had already been issued to customers who paid electronically, with cash customers invited to get in touch.
It added: "We are so sorry, this is not anywhere near our standard and they shouldn't have been sold."
Screenshots shared alongside the post appeared to show a number of refunds being processed shortly after the issue was identified.
The bakery stressed that its flavoured vanilla slices were unaffected.

'We only sell perfection'
Responding to comments on the post, Marshall's Bakehouse said it did not feel praise was necessary for the decision.
The business wrote: "We only sell perfection and I didn't this time.
"We are well aware you spend your hard earned money on a cake and it's a treat, not a necessity. If it's not perfect it's not good enough simply."
In a separate comment, the bakery also stated that the slices were safe to eat.
National recognition
Marshall's Bakehouse was opened by Holly Marshall when she was 20 years old and has since developed a substantial following.
The bakery was crowned Best Bakery in England at the England Business Awards in 2024 and is also a finalist in the Telegraph & Argus Best Bakery competition.
The social media post had attracted more than 1,000 likes within 24 hours of being published.
