Yorkshire Water apologises for long-standing town centre leak

“We understand that the amount of time that the leak has been unrepaired for will be frustrating for our customers, and we apologise for this."

Yorkshire water has apologised after a water leak in Skipton town centre remains unfixed after several weeks.

The leak, on Keighley Road, outside the Sound Bar, is due to be fixed in November.

Meanwhile, a separate leak close by, outside Morrison's Daily shop, was prioritised due to its severity, and has already been repaired.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “We are scheduled to repair the leak on Keighley Road, outside the Sound Bar, on November 3.

This will take place out of hours, with temporary four-way traffic lights in place for the safety of our colleagues, road users, and pedestrians.

“We understand that the amount of time that the leak has been unrepaired for will be frustrating for our customers, and we apologise for this.

"Due to its location in a busy town centre, planning the work and obtaining the relevant permits from the council has been a lengthier process than usual.”

Work to finish off the repaired leak next to Morrison's Daily is due to take place this week.
