MANUFACTURERS in Bradford are expanding digital teams to accelerate transformation and stay competitive.
The trend is part of a broader move to build digital skills across all levels of manufacturing businesses, supported by the Made Smarter Yorkshire programme.
Jessica Armitage, programme manager for Made Smarter Yorkshire, said: "It’s encouraging to see manufacturers creating digital teams with the skills and confidence to drive change.
"Digital transformation is much more likely to succeed when knowledge and ownership are shared across the business, helping manufacturers bring people with them and turn digital ambitions into action."
Since 2021, 147 people have completed or are currently taking part in the fully funded training, which includes courses for leaders and digital champions.
Bradford-based bi-fold door hardware manufacturer Debar is among those investing in digital skills.
Paul Walker, system development and IT manager at Debar, said: "We’ve been driving technological change within Debar for some time and we’re trying to become a manufacturer that is driven by data.
"Understanding that human side of change has probably been one of the most valuable things I’ve taken from the programme."
The courses, delivered by Sheffield Hallam University, combine workshops, webinars and hands-on technology experience with a strong emphasis on managing change and engaging people.
