Theakston’s Brewery has announced the launch of a new ale, Special Reserve, which will make its debut with a national listing in Morrisons this month.
Brewed in Masham using Fuggle hops, the 6.5 per cent ABV ale is the strongest in Theakston’s range and will be available in 500ml bottles through Morrisons, with Waitrose adding it to their shelves in November.
Simon Theakston, chairman of T&R Theakston, said: "As a brewery with almost 200 years of experience crafting legendary beers, we pride ourselves on staying true to our heritage while creating beers that people want to drink."
Theakston said the launch comes as drinkers return to "classic styles of British ale" with higher ABVs and "distinctive rich and smooth flavour profiles".
Special Reserve follows a series of recent product launches from the independent brewery, which has also secured expanded listings for its iconic Old Peculier, the alcohol-free Nowt Peculier, and Salted Caramel Porter.
