A 17km walk has raised more than £700 for a national food charity.

The fundraiser was completed by Yorkshire Building Society colleagues from branches in Leeds, Bradford, Keighley, and Dewsbury in support of Felix, formerly known as FareShare and The Felix Project.

The team walked from Leeds city centre to Roundhay Park and back.

Alison Alexis, branch manager at the society’s Bradford branch, said: "It was fantastic to see colleagues from across our Leeds, Bradford and Dewsbury branches come together for such an important cause.

"The walk was a brilliant team effort, and we’re incredibly proud to have raised more than £700 for Felix.

"Knowing the money will support Felix and its Building Skills for the Future programme kept us motivated every step of the way."

Felix works with supermarkets, restaurants, and other businesses to rescue surplus food, supplying more than 8,000 charities and community organisations across the UK.

The partnership with Yorkshire Building Society also funds outreach sessions to improve financial wellbeing and confidence in the job market.

Gareth Batty, director of network at Felix, said: "We are so grateful to all the Yorkshire Building Society colleagues who took on this latest fundraising challenge."
