A Yarm restaurant and night spot has an “elevated” new look - including new sliding walls in its popular cocktail bar.

The Keys, on Yarm High Street, has refreshed its seating, colours, and bar area in its downstairs restaurant and revamped the décor in the first floor Cabana Cocktail Lounge.

New pictures have revealed the venue’s modern new look, with bosses saying they wanted to move The Keys forward while “keeping it feeling fresh” for punters.

One of the major changes comes in the form of sliding walls in the cocktail bar and nightclub, which have been added so the space can be adjusted in size to suit different events.

The nightclub space has also been updated, retaining the club feel for DJ nights and events but so that it also works for daytime events.

Manager Jake Taylor said being able to adapt the size of the bar and club will “help us create the right setting for different occasions”.

The bar and nightclub works remain a “work in progress”, with new décor and furniture also set to be added to the garden pergola space this week.

While The Keys has boasted a nightclub for more than 20 years, it wound down its weekly club nights in summer 2024 and decided it would only be open “special events” going forward.

The venue instead decided to expand its Cabana Cocktail Lounge, which first opened in early 2024, into the former second room of the club in a bid to create a “versatile” new space.

The cocktail bar now hosts weekly events while the club draws crowds for bottomless brunches, bingo, day parties, and children’s parties.

The club will once again reopen on Fridays and Saturdays across the Christmas period - with Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp back behind the decks on December 27.

Vicky Powell, director of Mistell Limited, which owns The Keys, said: “We’re always looking at how we can move The Keys forward and keep it feeling fresh for our customers.

“Each part of the venue has its own character. We want to build on that while making the spaces work for the different ways that people come together here, whether that’s for a meal, a private celebration, a daytime brunch event or a night on the dance floor.”

Mr Taylor added: “Flexibility is a big part of these improvements.

"Being able to adapt the size and layout of Cabana and the nightclub will help us create the right setting for different occasions.

“We want a smaller private party to feel just as at home as a busy brunch or a big club night. These changes will give us the ability to do that.”
