A County Durham venue is attracting attention for its afternoon tea and sweeping countryside views.

The View at Consett Golf Club has won praise for its afternoon tea, prepared by Made By Me Catering.

Travel and lifestyle creator Becca was among those praising the venue after sharing a video of her visit on TikTok.

In the clip, she called it "one of the best afternoon teas I've ever had".

Filmed inside the venue overlooking the surrounding countryside, the video showcases tiers of freshly-prepared food including sandwiches, cakes, quiches and traditional scones.

"Honestly it was incredible," Becca said.

"All the catering is done by Made By Me Catering. It's a full afternoon tea. They also cater for gluten free."

She went on to praise the venue's gluten-free option, which had been ordered by her mother.

"It includes everything that the regular afternoon tea would have, which if you're gluten free you know, is rare to find," she said.

"Food was amazing, everything's made fresh. You've got cakes, sandwiches, scones, quiches. Absolutely incredible. Definitely check this out."

While the food clearly impressed, part of the appeal lies in the setting itself.

Perched high above the Derwent Valley, The View lives up to its name with sweeping panoramas across the County Durham landscape.

Large windows allow diners to enjoy the scenery while tucking into a traditional afternoon tea, making it a popular choice for family celebrations, catch-ups with friends and special occasions.

The afternoon tea includes a selection of savoury bites and homemade sweet treats, while gluten-free alternatives ensure those with dietary requirements are not left out.
