Harrogate buses are displaying commemorative poppies as Transdev renews its Poppy Appeal campaign for 2026

Harrogate buses are displaying commemorative poppies as Transdev renews its Poppy Appeal campaign for 2026, with free travel being offered to current and former Armed Forces personnel on Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day.

Dozens of vehicles operated by the Harrogate Bus Company, alongside hundreds of buses across Transdev’s Yorkshire and Lancashire fleets, have been adorned with large poppies to mark the annual period of remembrance.

The bus operator will offer free travel across its network on Sunday 8 November and Wednesday 11 November.

The offer is available to serving Armed Forces personnel carrying a Forces ID, and to veterans wearing uniform or displaying their medals.

Transdev Managing Director Henri Rohard said the campaign recognised the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces.

Henri Rohard, Managing Director of Transdev, said: This Remembrance Weekend and Armistice Day, we are reminded of the sacrifice that the men and women of our Armed Forces have made for our freedom.

We hope that by displaying these large poppies on our buses, many of our customers will join us in remembering those who serve and will donate to charitable causes that support our veterans.

And for those current and former personnel who use our buses, we hope the free travel option allows them to visit friends, family, and local Remembrance events on both of these important days.

Transdev has also been developing its links with the Armed Forces community. In September, the company attended a careers event at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, represented by colleagues who had previously served in the military.
