YET another long-closed Sam Smith’s pub is said to be re-opening in North Yorkshire.
A manager has reportedly been found for The Railway Inn at Spofforth, between Wetherby and Harrogate.
The Railway Inn on Park Road (A661) has been closed since 2020 and earlier this year was advertising for managers.
However, banners were removed from the long-closed pub and other security measures were taken following a visit in June this year by “urban explorers” who enter empty properties and show footage of the places online.

The pub was originally converted from 19th Century railway cottages built for workers after the local line opened in 1847.
It is situated close to the disused railway line, now popular with walkers.
Social media sites that report on Sam Smith’s Brewery say a manager has been found for the pub, who will relocate from another Sam Smith’s venue.
However, no timeframe has been confirmed for the reopening, but one post says it is expected to be before Christmas.
Sam Smith’s Brewery did not respond to our request for comment, but a company source told the Press that the Railway Inn would be reopening.
The Railway Inn is Spofforth's second pub after the dining-led Castle Inn.
In its day, the Railway Inn was noted as a thriving pub offering good food, notably Sunday roast and “fantastic” fish and chips.
It also had darts and football teams.
The Railway Inn reopening follows a reported reopening later this year of the Jolly Sailors in Whitby.
Earlier this month, the Trafalgar Bay reopened in Nunnery Lane, York.
Other recent reopenings include the Wellington Inn on Alma Terrace, Fishergate; the Tankard Inn at Rufforth, the Ebor Inn at Bishopthorpe and the Angel & White Horse in Tadcaster.
The Press also understands that, subject to the completion of renovations and repairs, The York Arms in High Petergate is due to reopen in January.
