Bradford will become the first UK city to host Placemaking Week Europe, an international conference focused on improving towns and cities.
Bradford Council said the four-day conference will take place from September 28 to October 1, 2027, bringing more than 600 delegates from over 50 countries to the district.
The announcement was made during Bradford's Scale Up business conference and is being seen as another boost for the district's growing reputation on the international stage.
Visitors will include city leaders, architects, planners, designers and community groups involved in shaping the future of cities around the world.
First UK city to host the event
Being chosen places Bradford alongside European centres known for regeneration and community-led development.
The event will follow previous conferences in Rotterdam, Strasbourg, Reggio Emilia, Pontevedra, València and Amsterdam.
Organisers say the conference will allow people from different countries to share ideas about creating safer, greener and more welcoming communities.
Discussions will cover regeneration, public spaces, sustainability and ways to help communities thrive.
Bradford will also be able to showcase its transformation, heritage and diverse communities to an international audience.

Boost for Bradford's visitor economy
The conference is expected to bring hundreds of visitors, creating opportunities for hotels, restaurants, shops and other local businesses.
It will provide a platform to highlight major projects and improvements across the district in recent years.
The event is expected to build on international attention generated by Bradford's year as UK City of Culture 2025.
It will give the district another chance to showcase its ambitions for the future on a global stage.
It is expected to strengthen Bradford's growing international reputation and support businesses welcoming delegates during their stay.
