A church has been targeted by anti-social behaviour.

Police have been carrying out regular patrols at St John's Church in Cleckheaton following reports of ongoing issues within the grounds.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Over the past few weeks, officers have been carrying out regular patrols at St John’s Church, Cleckheaton, following reports of anti-social behaviour within the church grounds.

"The church is an important part of the local community and should be treated with respect.

"It is disappointing that the actions of a small number of youths and young adults have had a negative impact on the site and those who visit it.

"Thank you to residents for your continued support.

"If you witness anti-social behaviour, please report it so that we can take positive action."
