A caring ethos and a focus on pupil wellbeing have been praised following a glowing Ofsted report.

Christ Church Church of England Academy in Shipley was described by inspectors as a place where students "feel proud to be part of the school community," and "feel safe, happy, and well cared for."

In their report, Ofsted highlighted the school's inclusive culture and commitment to helping every child succeed.

Under the latest inspection framework, the school met the expected standard in all areas, with its Early Years provision rated as 'Strong'—a level exceeding typical expectations.

Philippa Foster, headteacher at Christ Church Academy, said: "We are immensely proud of our pupils and staff and it is particularly pleasing that Ofsted have recognised that our pupils enjoy being part of the school community we all work tirelessly together to build.

"The new Ofsted framework is rigorous and thorough and to have securely met the expected standard with our Early Years judged to be 'Strong' is incredibly pleasing for us and confirms to our families that our school is providing a high quality education for all our pupils."

The Ofsted report described the Early Years environment as settled and supportive.

Inspectors said: "Children in the Early Years settle quickly.

"Children feel secure.

"Children make independent choices and use good manners.

"Relationships are warm and respectful."

Ofsted also recognised the school's nurturing approach and its commitment to inclusion.

Leaders were praised for quickly identifying and supporting pupils’ individual needs, offering tailored help to enable children to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Inspectors noted: "The school provides a calm environment that helps pupils to feel safe and ready to learn."

Inspectors also noted the school’s strong academic focus and the ambition of its staff, finding that pupils are "well prepared for the next stage of their education," and "respond positively in lessons," and "work independently and contribute confidently."

Reading was highlighted as a particular strength, with pupils becoming fluent readers who enjoy books at school and at home.

Maths was also praised, with pupils developing the confidence and mental strategies to tackle increasingly complex problems.

Pupils were also commended for taking on roles such as eco-leaders, librarians, and wellbeing ambassadors.

Carol Dewhurst OBE, chief executive officer at Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust, said: "Everyone at Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust is incredibly proud of the pupils, staff and leaders at Christ Church Academy."
