A celebrity architect has declared a North East bakery as "one of the best" he has ever visited.
George Clarke, best known for presenting The Restoration Man and Amazing Spaces, took to Instagram to praise Pure Knead Bakery, which has branches in Gosforth, Whitley Bay and Dean Street in Newcastle.
The Sunderland-born TV star shared a photo of the bakery’s counter in Newcastle and wrote: "One of the best bakeries I’ve ever been in.
"The produce is outstanding! The bread is the best!
"Hats off to the bakers that start at 3am everyday and to the 27 staff across the business who make and sell beautiful food from 3 independent shops in the North East."
Known for its handmade breads, pastries and sweet treats, Pure Knead has built a loyal following across the region.
Fans of the bakery were quick to jump into the comments and support Mr Clarke’s praise.
One wrote: "Totally agree! Their sausage rolls are so so so good. I’ve driven miles to get them."

Pure Knead’s Dean Street branch is their most recently opened, expanding on the success of its existing shops in Gosforth and Whitley Bay.
