The Ivy opening two new North East restaurants in historic former bank building

The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie and The Ivy Asia will bring luxury dining, sushi and striking interiors to Grey Street.

The Ivy will be adding two new restaurants to its portfolio, marking its northernmost dining venues in England to date.

The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie and The Ivy Asia Newcastle will open in a Grade II-listed former bank at 102 Grey Street in Grainger Town.

This will be the first time the brand has launched both premium restaurant concepts together in one city simultaneously.

Kate Cooper, restaurant operating officer for the north, said: "We are incredibly excited to be bringing The Ivy Collection and The Ivy Asia to Newcastle for the very first time.

"Finding the right location in the heart of the city was incredibly important to us, and we couldn’t have asked for a more fitting home than this magnificent historic building on Grey Street, surrounded by Newcastle’s thriving culinary, retail and cultural scene.

"Newcastle is a city with such a strong sense of character and identity, and we are proud to be becoming part of its hospitality landscape.

"We look forward to welcoming guests from across Newcastle and the wider North East to experience everything both restaurants have to offer."

Opening this winter, the two restaurants will offer a combined seating capacity of more than 200 guests and will create 200 new jobs.

The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie will serve all-day dining, including breakfasts, brunches and dinners, featuring seasonal specials, set menus and classic Ivy dishes.

The Ivy Asia Newcastle will offer an Asian-inspired menu, including hand-crafted sushi, and will be designed for both casual dining and special occasions.

Both venues will be led by general manager Beth Cole and head chef John Guthrie, with support from brasserie operations manager Rodney Prosper and operations chef Clinton Woodhouse.
