A McDonald’s restaurant will temporarily close as it undergoes a major makeover.

The Thinford branch in County Durham will close this week, on October 25, and reopen with a new look on December 10 at 11am.

The restaurant serves Spennymoor, Ferryhill and Durham and is a popular stop for commuters and motorists on the A167.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: "Our Thinford restaurant is due to close on 25th October and will undergo a refurbishment as part of our reimagining programme.

"The revamp will improve the experience of both our customers and our restaurant team, and we look forward to welcoming customers back on 10th December at 11am."

McDonald’s has not revealed the details, but recent refurbishments have included modernised dining areas, updated ordering facilities and improved layouts.

The closure means regular customers will need to visit alternative McDonald’s locations during the refurbishment period.

The upgrade is part of McDonald’s wider investment programme aimed at improving the experience for diners and staff alike.
