Durham Cathedral will once again ring out with Christmas carols as a festive fundraiser returns to the city's historic landmark.
The NSPCC Carol Service will be held on Saturday, December 19, from 11am to 12pm and is organised in support of the charity's work with children and young people across the UK.
Cheryl Ellis, NSPCC school coordinator for the region, said: "We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience the beauty of Durham Cathedral and enjoy the magic of Christmas together.
"Thanks to the incredible generosity of Darlington Rotary Club and Ardenter Payroll, we are able to bring these wonderful festive events to life and raise awareness of the NSPCC’s vital work supporting children and young people here and across the country.
"You can choose to attend the carol service, book the afternoon tea, or join us for both and make a special day of it.
"Either way, we’d love to see you there and really enjoy the festive season."
The event is supported and funded by Darlington Rotary Club and will feature performances by choirs from Carr Hill Community Primary School, Ouston Primary School, and Durham Trinity School.
Entry to the service is free.
On the same day, a ticketed afternoon tea will be held in the cathedral’s Prior’s Hall, supported by Ardenter Payroll.
The £25-per-person event will include festive treats, a raffle, NSPCC merchandise, and a fashion showcase from The Ultimate Ladies Boutique.
All participating schools have worked with the NSPCC’s School Service team to deliver Speak out, Stay safe workshops, which teach primary school children about safeguarding and how to seek help if they need it.
Funds raised from the day will support the NSPCC’s work in the North East and across the country, including its School Services and Childline, which marks its 40th anniversary this year.
