Neighbours have raised 'noise' concerns over plans to open a sports pitch at a Darlington school an hour earlier each morning.
Polam Hall School on Grange Road plans to allow pupils to use its all-weather pitch from 8am.
However, it would be limited to school pupils only until 9am, with council officers arguing that the children already use the playing fields at that time.
Council officers are recommending the plans are approved when Darlington Borough Council's Planning Applications Committee meets at 1.30pm on Wednesday (October 21).
Five objections have been received, with neighbours raising concerns about noise, parking and the effect on nearby homes.
One resident said: "We have had constant noise, dust and disruption already from the building works and now you suggest further noise when the project is finished."
They added: "Your 'modest operational flexibility' so early in the morning is very unfair considering what we have had to endure already."

Other neighbours fear the change could worsen traffic problems around the school.
Two residents said: "Numerous parents are parking on double yellow lines at the top of the road to drop off their children or are parking on resident parking bays and this is creating a dangerous traffic situation."
They added: "More traffic on this quiet residential road at this busy time of day is something we would object to."
