A Durham footpath is set to close for almost a month for electric cable works, according to a public notice.

The footpath at Edge Court, Gilesgate, County Durham, will be shut under a temporary order.

The closure will affect a 72-metre stretch from the rear of No 125 to the rear of No 132.

The County Council of Durham has indicated that the path will be shut from Monday, October 19, 2026, with the works expected to take 26 days to complete.

The council has stated that the works are necessary to facilitate the installation of electric cables.

While the footpath is closed, an alternative route for pedestrians will be signposted.

Should there be any need for additional closures, these will be indicated on site.
