A Darlington couple have turned a work van into the town’s first mobile pamper salon after struggling to find a party idea for their daughter.
Andrew and Janene Hall run the Pink Pamper Van, which brings children’s pamper parties to families’ homes.
The pink-and-gold van is a travelling salon, giving youngsters a party experience without parents having to book a venue.

The idea began earlier this year when the couple searched for something different for their eight-year-old daughter, Georgia.

Andrew said: "We bought the van back in February after my wife was looking for party ideas for our daughter.
"We came across similar things online and it was right up our daughter's street.

"My wife thought it was a great idea and something she would be keen to do."
Janene developed the business while Andrew used his engineering skills to transform the van in his spare time.
While working full-time, he spent his weekends converting the van into the colourful mobile salon.

The couple tested the idea before launching the business to the public.
They held a trial party for their daughter and her friends, and it quickly proved a hit.

The 43-year-old said: "The response was really good.

"We did it with our daughter and some of her friends.

"We really wanted to see what was a comfortable number for my wife to do it by herself.
"We started with six and it went well; it was really good."
The Pink Pamper Van is believed to be the only pamper van currently operating in Darlington.
