Retail workers in Harrogate are being invited to an event about shop crime, anti-social behaviour and staff safety as part of a national campaign next month.
The drop-in will take place at Victoria Shopping Centre between 10am and midday on Monday 9 November, with sessions scheduled for 10.30am, 11am and 11.30am.
Organised by Harrogate BID, the event is part of Safer Business Action Week, which runs from 9 to 15 November. It will cover work involving the BID’s Business Crime Reduction Partnership, North Yorkshire Police and other organisations.
Retail staff will also hear about campaigns run by the Retail Trust, ShopKind and the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW), which address abuse and crime affecting people working in shops.
Paul Evans, BCRP manager at Harrogate BID: We also want to highlight the wider work taking place nationally to address the challenges faced by retail workers, particularly the verbal and physical abuse that can unfortunately be part of their working day.
The event will be held in the meeting room on the first floor of Victoria Shopping Centre. Retail staff can attend at any point during the two-hour session.
