A land promoter is proposing a scheme which could deliver more than 100 homes in Tadcaster.
Hargreaves Strategic Land is promoting a 10-acre (4ha) site north of Edgerton Drive, Tadcaster.
The company has been consulting with the town about its proposals, which included staging an open event at Riley-Smith Hall earlier this month.
Hargreaves Strategic Land is also seeking public comment into its proposals and has set a deadline of 5pm Wednesday ( Oct 21).

In literature promoting its Tadcaster scheme, the company says it operates nationally and is “passionate about quality, sustainability and thoughtful design.”
“Our goal is to create connected, vibrant and future-ready communities where people want to live.”
The site on the north-western edge of Tadcaster is currently used for agriculture and is designated as Green Belt.
The site has the lowest risk of flooding, says the company, and is screened by hedgerows, limiting visual impact.
It is also in a sustainable location, within walking distance of the town centre. The field is of low biodiversity vale and contains no heritage assets.
The proposed scheme is for 85-105 homes with enhanced landscaping on its boundaries.
Central government, the company continued, has targets of 300,000 homes a year nationally, with North Yorkshire Council having a target of 4,171 homes a year as part of this, which the council has publicly admitted it cannot meet.
The literature also said: “There has been a longstanding issue with housing in Tadcaster with only 33 dwellings being completed between 1st April 2011 and 31st March 2025. In comparison, 1,17 dwellings have been completed over this period at Sherburn-in-Elmet, which is the other Local Service Centre in Selby District. Only two affordable homes were completed in this time in Tadcaster.”
“The proposed development will meet the local need for housing by contributing both market and affordable homes.”
Hargreaves Land also says the developers will fund infrastructure such as schools through a Community Infrastructure Levy and other financial measures.
“The development will also benefit the local economy through increased footfall and spending in local shops and business,” the company added.
North Yorkshire Councillor for Tadcaster Kirsty Poskitt has posted the details of the scheme on her Facebook page and urged residents to have their say.
The Independent councillor says planning by its nature is upsetting for some but Tadcaster “is in desperate need of homes.”
The town also wont get much needed infrastructure without extra housing, she explained.
Cllr Poskitt continued: “Its clear to see that we are currently in a time of change and progress with lots of exciting things happening involving the brewery, they of course have their own housing development sites that they have put forward. Station Road (101 dwellings) and Butches Field (33 dwellings).
“In addition, the Eleven Arches site is still with the authority and should be going to the planning committee sometime soon.”
The councillor said Hargreaves expect to take on board feedback and submit a planning application in late October or November.
She added: “As residents, it is VITAL that we share views on this when it appears on the planning portal. We absolutely need homes but they need to be the right homes in the right place, the community voice matters when it comes to planning.
“The team at Hargreaves are more than happy to answer any questions, so please do reach out to them, their email is planning.consultation@hsgplc.co.uk.”
