CONCERNS have been raised over anti-social behaviour at a North Yorkshire beauty spot.

The Mayor of Norton, Cllr Di Keal, said she has been told attempts have been made to hurt the swan currently living on the lake at Lakeside.

An estate agent sign has also been thrown into the water at the area off Welham Road.

Cllr Keal said: "What is wrong with people? Why would anyone think it is acceptable to throw a sign into the lake at Lakeside, Norton?

"I have asked the North Yorkshire Council Streetscene team to remove it asap.

"I hear there has been other anti-social behaviour in the area, including teasing and attempting to hurt the remaining swan on the lake, which is actually an illegal act.

"If anyone in the area notices this sort of behaviour please call the police immediately - there is a local wildlife officer who will be able to deal with the culprits! Or get in touch with me at dinah-keal@btinternet.com and I will be happy to contact the police for you.

"Lakeside is a lovely area of natural beauty created as a wildlife haven for everyone to enjoy - lets not let a small mindless number of people spoil it for our community."
