Spark:York – will the council keep its word over its future?
WITH all the plans for York Central being finalised, will the council keep their promises and save a site to move the Spark Containers to?
No wonder we cannot be a World Heritage Site!

Why a York tourist tax is bad for business
IT has recently been reported in both local and national media that tourist footfall in York is severely down.
Make It York reported that 15.08m people visited York City Center between January and June, a fall of eight per cent.
Even worse, visits to attractions fell 17 per cent in the same period.
Visits to York’s Chocolate Story – one of the city’s most popular attractions – have not yet recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
The hospitality sector in York is vital to the prosperity of the city as a whole.
All this begs the question as to why the Labour Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith, plans to impose the new “tourist tax” on our local businesses?
At a time of falling visitor numbers, why does Mr Skaith think it is a good idea to cost businesses money and disincentivise tourists from coming and contributing to York’s economy?
The tourist industry is too important to be taken for granted.
I would much rather see a plan from Mr Skaith about how he plans on supporting local businesses and strengthen the local economy.

We need a post office
CENTRAL York needs a dedicated Post Office as soon as possible, not one tucked away at the back of of a retail shop with the possibility of yet another closure.
