A new Mexican restaurant is spicing up lunchtimes with a freshly launched takeaway service.
Tia’s Mexican Cantina, which opened just over a month ago at The Gate in Newcastle, has introduced Tia’s To Go in response to growing demand from customers wanting to enjoy its Tex Mex favourites on the move.
The new takeaway option is available Monday to Friday from 12pm to 5pm and allows diners to order online and collect their food from the restaurant.
Steven Martin, co-owner of Kaleido Leisure, which operates Tia’s, said: "We have been asked a number of times by people passing through The Gate at lunchtimes and early evening if they we did takeaway.
"For people who don’t have time to dine in the restaurant – for example only having a short lunch break – but still want the Tia’s experience so it made sense to offer them the opportunity to enjoy our food."
The takeaway menu features a selection of starters including jalapeno poppers, chargrilled Mexican corn on the cob, cauliflower crunch, and tortilla chips and dips.

Main courses include burritos, meat and vegetarian chilli, quesadillas, and the Picadillo Party Bowl – a beef hash with vegetables cooked in a rich smoke tomato sauce which is served with Mexican rice and tortilla chips.
Also featured on the menu is Mole Poblano, Mexico’s national dish.
The meal includes a sauce made of dark chocolate, spices and toasted chillis with either slow-braised pulled beef, chicken or roasted vegetables, served with rice, salad and tortilla chips.
