Richard Bass, managing director at Amethyst Homes, said: "It has taken significant work from our team working closely with the North Tyneside Planners to get to this point.

"We’d like to thank those who commented during the public consultation.

"Every point raised was carefully considered, ensuring our final proposals to deliver new homes will respect the unique local heritage of the area and bring lasting value to Tynemouth and North Tyneside."

The developer has emphasised the sustainable nature of the scheme, given its proximity to transport links and local amenities.

Mr Bass said: "Due to its unique location, the proposal offers a fully sustainable development close to all local amenities and facilities, all of which are within easy walking distance."

The application is now subject to formal validation and review by North Tyneside Council, with a statutory consultation period to follow.
