A man has been arrested after a cannabis farm was found inside a Sunderland pub.
Officers discovered the crop after raiding The Wheatsheaf pub, on the corner of Roker Avenue and Thomas Street North, just after 9am on Sunday (October 18).
Pictures taken yesterday showed how the pub had been taped off by police, with at least two force vehicles at the scene alongside Northern Powergrid.
Northumbria Police has confirmed that a man, aged 53, has been arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers remain at the pub and are removing the plants.
The Echo understands that the farm was found solely inside The Wheatsheaf premises and not the former Terminus pub next door.
