An independent country pub has been named a regional finalist in the Wedding Industry Awards 2027.
The Stone Trough Inn, located in Kirkham Abbey between York and Malton, received the honour in the Venue (Other) category for Yorkshire and the North East less than two years after launching its wedding business.
The pub began developing its wedding business in November 2024 and has since built a reputation for intimate celebrations and warm Yorkshire hospitality.
Philippa Marks, head of weddings and events at The Stone Trough Inn, said: "Every wedding is different, and that's precisely what makes our work so special.
"We take the time to really get to know our couples, understand their hopes and ambitions, and create a celebration that is unmistakably theirs.
"One of the things our couples tell us they particularly love is having The Stone Trough Inn exclusively to themselves.
"There's something very special about being surrounded by just your family and friends, with the freedom to relax, celebrate and truly make the place your own.
"And we're proud that this experience can be enjoyed without the price tag so often associated with exclusive-use wedding venues."
Located in the North Yorkshire countryside, the inn blends the charm of a traditional stone-built pub with scenic surroundings and a dedicated events team.
The Wedding Industry Awards celebrate excellence across the UK’s wedding sector, with feedback from couples who have used the venues playing a key role in the judging process.
Philippa said the award is a testament to the personal service offered by the team.
She said: "When we began developing our wedding business in November 2024, we set ourselves exceptionally high standards.
"To be recognised by The Wedding Industry Awards as one of the region's finalists less than two years later is an incredible achievement, and one of which our entire team can be immensely proud.
"What makes this recognition particularly special is knowing that the couples who have celebrated with us have played such an important part in our journey.
"Their trust, their happiness and their wonderful memories are what drive us to make every wedding extraordinary."
Andrew G. Whitney, speaking on behalf of the inn, said: "We have a very clear ambition for The Stone Trough Inn, and that is to create one of Britain's great pubs, known for exceptional food, genuine hospitality and unforgettable experiences.
"When we began developing our wedding business in November 2024, we knew we had a beautiful setting and something very special to offer.
"It is the dedication, professionalism and sheer determination of Philippa and her team that have brought that vision to life.
"To receive this recognition in less than two years is a tremendous achievement, and we are enormously proud to see our independent Yorkshire pub recognised among the region's top wedding venues."
The Yorkshire and North East regional winners will be announced on November 9, 2026, at a ceremony celebrating the region’s wedding industry.
The awards ceremony, featuring live entertainment and bringing together some of the region’s leading wedding professionals, will culminate in the presentation of the regional awards live on stage by Damian Bailey, founder of The Wedding Industry Awards.
