A MAIN route to Whitby in North Yorkshire has closed for five days for maintenance work today.
Blue Bank on the A169 will be closed from today (Monday, October 19), while annual maintenance is carried out.
The road will be shut between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day during the works.
Officials say the closure is necessary to allow the maintenance programme to be completed safely.
On-site personnel will be available throughout the works to help manage access for residents, businesses and properties located within the closure area.
No pedestrian access will be permitted while the work is taking place.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for any diversions.
