YOUTHS are alleged to have started a fire close to a 900-year-old castle in North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Knaresborough Castle at 7.37pm on Saturday (October 17).
The service said pieces of rubbish had been set alight after youths were seen “pulling it out of a bin to ignite”.
A spokesperson said: “The fire was out prior to fire crews arrival and inspected by crews for any left over hotspots.
“The incident was left in the hands of police.”
