A spokesperson for Muddy Boots Nursery said: "It's fantastic news for the whole team and a lovely recognition of the care, dedication and hard work that goes into making Muddy Boots a special place for children and their families.

"At Muddy Boots, we believe childhood should be full of curiosity, discovery and opportunities to explore the world around us.

"Our nature-led approach encourages children to learn through play, follow their interests and grow in confidence at their own pace."

The Ofsted report - which took place on August 25, 2026 - highlighted the strong relationships between staff and children, noting that these help children settle quickly and become “confident, emotionally secure learners.”

Inspectors described the nursery as having a respectful and harmonious atmosphere, with leaders placing children at the centre of every decision.

The nursery was also commended for its well-planned transition arrangements and the positive, supportive culture throughout the setting.

Their spokesperson added: "From those first sometimes-wobbly goodbyes to the excitement of getting ready for school, we want every child to feel safe, supported and ready to take on their next adventure."

It noted that children make consistent progress from their starting points and that staff have a deep understanding of the next steps of their key children.

The report also recognised the nursery’s effective use of funding, close partnerships with parents and professionals, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Leaders were described as having a “proactive commitment to continuous improvement” and creating a nurturing environment for both children and staff.

The spokesperson added: "A huge well done to our wonderful Wilberfoss team for this fantastic Ofsted result, and a heartfelt thank you to all our families for their continued support.

"We’re incredibly proud of what we do, and we can’t wait to welcome more little explorers to Muddy Boots."

The group also runs nurseries in Stamford Bridge, Poppleton, and Acomb, with admissions open for 2027.
