As 2026 marks 25 years since Saltaire was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status, we at the Telegraph & Argus took a trip to the Victorian village to explore some of the spots visitors shouldn't miss.
1. Salts Mill, Victoria Road
No visit to Saltaire is complete without a stop at Salts Mill on Victoria Road. The former textile mill is the heart of the village and offers enough attractions to fill an entire day.
Whether you're enjoying lunch in the diner, stopping for coffee, browsing the extensive bookshop, picking up art supplies in the 1853 Gallery or exploring the latest exhibitions, there is plenty to discover.

A highlight at the moment is David Hockney: 20 Flowers for 2025 And Some Bigger Pictures in the third-floor gallery.
The exhibition marks the first time the artist's series of iPad flower paintings and accompanying large-scale works have been shown outside London in the UK.
Combined with the building's rich industrial heritage and stunning architecture, Salts Mill remains Saltaire's standout attraction.

2. Cultures, Victoria Road
Just a short stroll from Salts Mill, Cultures has become a favourite meeting spot for locals and visitors alike.
The independent coffee and wine bar offers a relaxed atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. On a sunny afternoon, it's the perfect place to watch village life unfold while enjoying a coffee, a glass of wine or something stronger.

With a Google rating of 4.7 stars from more than 120 reviews, it's easy to see why the venue has built such a loyal following.
3. The Village, Daisy Place
Housed in what was once a laundrette, The Village has transformed into one of Saltaire's most popular independent businesses.
Known for its freshly made bagels and brunch options, it's an ideal lunch stop while exploring the area. Alongside the café, visitors will find a carefully curated store selling homeware, clothing, books, records and plants.
Whether you're looking for a bite to eat or a unique gift, this cosy spot offers a little bit of everything.

4. Salts Village Bakery, Victoria Road
For something quick and traditional, Salts Village Bakery on Victoria Road is a must.
The bakery offers a wide selection of freshly baked goods, including Yorkshire favourites, cakes, sandwiches and savoury pastries. Popular choices include the Jamaican Pasty, Cheese and Onion Pasty and Spinach and Feta bake, with vegan options also available.
It's the perfect place to grab lunch on the go before continuing your exploration of the village.
5. SALT Beer Factory, Bingley Road
If you're looking to round off your visit with a drink, SALT Beer Factory is a great spot.

Located inside a Grade II-listed tram shed, the microbrewery and taproom combines industrial heritage with a modern atmosphere. Fresh beer is brewed just metres away from where it's served, while exposed brickwork, neon lighting and regular DJ sets help create a lively weekend destination.
Visitors can sample SALT's range of craft beers, including favourites such as Jute Session IPA and IKAT Double IPA. Pair one with a wood-fired pizza and you've got the perfect end to a day in Saltaire.
