The haunted history behind Bolling Hall
Bolling Hall dates back to 1086, and the building played an important role in the English Civil War.
It has been reported that around 20 full-bodied apparitions have been spotted at the mansion.
Bolling Hall is the oldest house in the city and was taken over by William Bolling in 1316.
It has been taken over by several different families and was even let out as apartments at one point until it was given to Bradford City Council in 1912, which opened it up to the public as a museum that can still be visited today.
During the Civil War, the Royalists took over Bradford in 1643, and it was during this time that the first paranormal occurrence was said to have happened at Bolling Hall.
One night, the Earl of Newcastle said he was woken by a ghostly woman who was pulling his bedsheets.
She told the Earl to “pity poor Bradford”, which led to him abandoning his plans of executing all of the town’s residents.
Bolling Hall has even featured on TV shows like Most Haunted following other paranormal events.
Around 20 sightings of apparitions have been reported, and a child’s crib has been caught rocking back and forth on its own on camera.
A lot of disturbances happen in the Blue Room, where many people have said they felt like they were being watched, and others have said they have seen a male ghost in a long black coat.
A lady in white has also allegedly been seen floating mid-air and disappearing into the fireplace.
