Comedian Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown has been spotted collecting a brand-new car in Teesside just weeks after undergoing emergency hip replacement surgery.

The 81-year-old entertainer, who was forced to cancel a string of performances following the operation last month, visited Lexus Teesside to pick up his new RX.

The dealership shared the news on social media towards the end of last week, revealing that the Middlesbrough-born comedian had returned as a loyal customer.

In a light-hearted Facebook post, Lexus Teesside said: “Roy Chubby Brown has got the last laugh… and a brand-new RX to go with it!

“Comedy legend Roy and his mate Keith popped in to collect their shiny new RX, proving that when it comes to cars, Roy knows how to pick a good one!

“Roy’s been back to us for multiple cars over the years, so we must be doing something right, either that or Nathan’s jokes are finally paying off!”

The dealership also thanked Roy for his continued loyalty and praised sales executive Nathan for helping arrange the purchase.

The appearance comes around four weeks after the comedian underwent emergency surgery on September 17 following months of worsening hip and knee pain.

His condition reportedly deteriorated after a fall in August, with scans revealing serious damage to his left hip joint.

Doctors warned that without an urgent replacement, his mobility could deteriorate to the point where he would need a wheelchair.

The operation forced Brown to cancel a number of performances scheduled throughout September, October and November, with several dates postponed until 2027 and 2028.

He was advised to allow around eight weeks for his initial recovery.

Since leaving hospital, the comedian has been recovering at home and has shared positive updates with fans, while also working on new material ahead of his planned return to the stage.

Brown, whose real name is Royston Vasey, has entertained audiences for decades with his famously controversial stand-up routines.
