Take a peek at what you’ll find inside the original Woolpack pub where the legendary TV show Emmerdale was originally filmed.

As Emmerdale devotees will know, the ITV soap was filmed in the village of Esholt between 1976 and 1997. Today, Emmerdale has its own purpose-built village where much of the show is filmed.

In Esholt, there’s a pub which proudly stands in the centre of the village bearing The Woolpack name. Should you love Emmerdale, it is a must-visit, as you’ll find walls filled with memorabilia.

While, the soap’s very own pub has been built in the image of the iconic Esholt establishment. Lots of tourists regularly visit the original pub for a pint and to take in a bit of TV history in Yorkshire.

On the pub’s website, a greeting reads: “The pub changed its name from The Commercial to The Woolpack during its time as a TV set. Scenes were once again filmed in Esholt, 19 years after they were last filmed, as part of the special episode following Ashley Thomas' dementia storyline, in December 2016, in an attempt to show a skewed, unfamiliar view of the village as perceived by Ashley.”

The dog-friendly Esholt pub has ample indoor seating as well as front and rear exterior options. You can also find good traditional pub grub on the Woolie’s menu.
