Low Petergate will continue to be closed until 6pm on Friday, November 6, 2026.

City of York Council said this closure is necessary to ensure that the water mains works can be carried out safely.

During this period, vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding on Low Petergate between its junctions with Duncombe Place and Church Street.

An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be clearly signed, directing them via Duncombe Place, Blake Street, Davygate, and Church Street.

Access for resident and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works period.

Traffic signs and barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibition.

The Order does not prohibit emergency access or necessary works, ensuring that access to premises is available as long as it is not obstructed by ongoing works.
