St George’s Old Boys reunion returns to York
ST Georges Old Boys Association will be holding their annual reunion on Friday, November 27, 2026.
This will be held at our usual venue the NHS Sports and Social Club, Whitecross Road, York from 7pm onwards.
As announced last year there will be a reduced buffet this year, there will be the usual raffle (raffle prizes will be most welcome) and the proceeds will go to our chosen charity which will be decided on the night.
All old boys welcome as usual and hopefully it will be as successful as previous reunions.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 27th!

Why should get back into the EU
I WRITE in support of Mr Rickaby’s letter, at least up to a point, in the October 15 Press page 20, about the PM and rejoining the EU.
On that point, I somehow get the impression that Mr Putin, and, curiously, Mr Trump, don’t seem that favourably disposed towards such a development!
I too hope Mr Burnham enters any negotiations ‘erect, tall and proud’ and not in a cringeworthy manner, cap in hand.
However, I hope it works.
The UK has so much to offer Europe, but it won’t be one-way traffic.
I see our role as ‘a little leaven that leavens the whole lump’, to quote St Paul (‘why bring him into it?’ you may ask. Only because he had a good point).
I hope that when or if it happens, the UK’s presence will be of benefit to both the EU and to the UK, improving the ‘mixture’ all round.
If at times the EU is petulant, unruly and problematic, I still believe we’re better and stronger together, especially nowadays. ‘R-EU-L’ BRITANNIA!’

Height matters
READING of plans to install a solar farm on Brown Moor Lane, Sutton-on-Forest perhaps a compromise solution might be possible.
I recently read of an experiment in Normandy, France were they had erected solar panels in a field, but higher than normal.
The results surprised everyone, the area under the panels remained lush with grass whilst the surrounding areas was scorched by the summer's heatwave.
The cows sheltered from the sun, consumed more food and over a longer period than those in the full sun.
Perhaps their is a potential to have your cake and eat it.
With panels set higher their must be a compromise between farmers and the renewable energy section

Trump gone too far
IF any further proof was needed to demonstrate that President Trump clearly lacks any emotion even remotely resembling empathy (an actual sign of a psychopath), then check out his recent post.
An AI generated video of him playing with a tiger, clearly mocking the tragic death of William Chapman. The man beggars belief.
... DONALD Trump continues to display to the world what a tasteless, appalling personality he possesses, happy to portray an AI video making light of the distressing death of a young gentleman with mental health problems at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
Moat Way,
