Village beer festival set to return to cricket club after successful first year

A POPULAR village beer festival is set to return for its second year.

Cullingworth Cricket Club Beer Festival will make a comeback on Saturday, October 24, following a successful debut last October.

Katie Holmes, bar manager at the club, said: "It was really busy last year.

"We ordered around 150 reusable cups for everyone, and they had all gone within the first 45 minutes.

"We’re definitely hoping for a similar turnout this year."

Ms Holmes explained that the beer festival is a unique event.

She said: "There’s no other beer festival like this in Cullingworth, so we thought it would be something a bit different for the village.

"We'll have a bar built in the clubhouse as well as the usual bar, plus local beers from local breweries.

"We’ve also got a food truck coming."

Ms Holmes laid out the various entertainment for the day.

She said: "We’ve got singers Vienna Welthy, Martin Hully and something a bit new this year – The Final Edit Duo."

The event is built around the community, Ms Holmes said.

She said: "It’s a community event, and we do a lot as a club to get involved in local things.

"We’re a very big part of the community."

Organisers hope the festival will become an annual tradition.

Tickets cost £8 to buy on the day, and will include a reusable cup and one free drink.

The event begins at 1pm.
