A LIFE-CHANGING fitness scheme is helping people with osteoporosis feel stronger, safer and more confident.

The tailored exercise programme, developed in Bradford by volunteers from the Royal Osteoporosis Society in collaboration with Nuffield Health Shipley, was designed after group member Anita approached one of Nuffield Health's trainers for support.

Anita said: "It took me three years to walk through the door of a gym because I was frightened of doing the wrong thing.

"My pain is a lot less, my confidence is a lot more, and it's made a huge difference to my life."

The first 12-week course welcomed 11 participants and proved so popular that the second class is already fully booked.

Anita later contacted Nuffield Health CEO Alex Perry to share her thanks and the programme’s success.

Mr Perry is expected to attend a special event at the Shipley gym on October 19 during World Osteoporosis Day week to meet participants and hear their stories.
