Motorcycle racer and TV personality Guy Martin delighted a Richmond pub landlady after stopping in for dinner ahead of one of the toughest motorcycle trials in the world.

The popular daredevil visited The Town Hall Pub and Dining in Richmond Market Place on Friday evening (October 16), continuing what has become something of an annual tradition.

The pub's landlady, Tenille Wren, was thrilled to welcome the familiar face back for the fourth consecutive year, sharing her excitement on social media.

In a Facebook post, the pub wrote: "Happy landlady alert!

"The absolutely lovely Mr Guy Martin has been in for his dinner for the 4th year in a row tonight before the Scott Trial tomorrow.

"What a dude. Good luck tomorrow Guy."

One commented: "Well. I'm going to have to mark this date and be there next year."

Another said: "This is fantastic and great for your business. Well done and I hope it was an amazing evening all round."

"Love this," added another.

Martin, best known for his appearances at the Isle of Man TT and his television programmes featuring daring engineering challenges and speed record attempts, was in North Yorkshire ahead of the Scott Trial on Saturday (October 17).

The annual event, organised by Richmond Motor Club, is widely regarded as one of the most demanding one-day motorcycle trials anywhere in the world.

Taking place across the rugged terrain of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale in the Yorkshire Dales, the competition sees riders tackle approximately 80 miles of challenging off-road riding.

Unlike conventional motorcycle racing, competitors are judged on both their speed and their ability to negotiate difficult obstacles without putting their feet down.

Martin has become a familiar participant in the Scott Trial in recent years, having taken part in the event on several occasions.

The Scott Trial dates back to 1914, when it was established by motorcycle manufacturer Alfred Angas Scott as a test of endurance for his company's workers.

Today, the event attracts leading trials riders and enthusiastic spectators to the Yorkshire Dales, with Richmond and the surrounding villages welcoming visitors for the annual competition.
