A RETIRED couple from North Yorkshire have won the EuroMillions after a gut instinct told them to enter the draw.

The pair, who have chosen to remain anonymous but live in a village near Thirsk, won £1 million in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw on Tuesday 1 September 2026.

They plan to use their windfall to help support their children and grandchildren.

The winner said: "We still can't quite believe it. All we want to do now is help the kids and grandkids for the future, and knowing we can do that means everything to us."

He added that he only entered the EuroMillions draw after his wife had a strong feeling he would win a prize, despite usually only playing Lotto HotPicks.

That single line turned out to be the winner, with the UK Millionaire Maker code making them millionaires.

Abbie Suddick, winners' advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: "Congratulations to our lucky Yorkshire winners. What a wonderful example of trusting your instincts.

"We're delighted they can now help their children and grandchildren, and we wish the whole family all the very best."
