After stepping up its campaign to re-open its many empty pubs, Sam Smith's Brewery has turned its attention to its hotels.

The website of the Tadcaster-based brewery says it owns nine hotels, including the Sea Horse Hotel in Fawcett Street, York; and the Shann House Hotel in Kirkgate, Tadcaster.

The brewery has now posted on Facebook: “We’ve been reopening pub doors…Now we are reopening bedroom doors too!”

The post continued: “It’s been a busy few months, bringing pubs back to life and there’s more to come!

“But we’re not stopping at the bar…

“We’re now looking for the right people to take the reins at four of our characterful pubs with rooms. Think historic inns, proper pub grub, beautiful locations and a few stories in the walls!”

The brewery is seeking management couples and promises benefits including competitive salary, free live-in accommodation and utility bills paid.

It highlights the recently-reopened Harewood Arms Hotel, overlooking Harewood House, north of Leeds; the Heversham Hotel, Milnthorpe, Cumbria; the Swan Inn, Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, and the Hop Pole Hotel, Ollerton, Nottinghamshire.

Sam Smith's Brewery says these are “pubs steeped in history with a room for the night.”

The brewery also said: “These are not just pubs. They are inns with stories with stories to tell, places where good beer, good food and good hospitality have been part of life for generations.”

The recruitment follows the re-opening of Sam Smith's pubs across the country in recent months.

In our area, they include the Trafalgar Bay on Nunnery Lane, York, which opened on Tuesday.

Other recent reopenings include the Wellington Inn on Alma Terrace, Fishergate; the Tankard Inn at Rufforth, the Ebor Inn at Bishopthorpe and the Angel & White Horse in Tadcaster.

The Press also understands that, subject to the completion of renovations and repairs, The York Arms in High Petergate is due to reopen in January.

Sam Smith's Brewery did not respond to our request for comment concerning the recruitment of management couples for its hotels.
