Drivers in York should prepare for road closures as railway maintenance works are set to take place.
City of York Council said the Common Road level crossing outside Strensall will be closed to vehicles from 11.20pm on Monday October 26, until 5.45am the next morning.
This closure is necessary to ensure that the works can be carried out safely.
An alternative route will be signed for diverted vehicles, directing them via Lords Moor Lane to York Lane, York Lane, Rice Lane, Moor Lane, Gennell Lane, Smith’s Lane, and Common Road.
Emergency vehicles will have access throughout the works period, ensuring that safety is maintained.
Traffic signs and barriers will indicate the extent of the road closure.
The closure will not prevent works or emergency access, nor will it restrict access to local premises unless obstructed by ongoing works, the council said.
