A best-selling author will deliver a public lecture exploring how overlooked women in history could shape a fairer future.

The talk is by best-selling author and documentary maker Professor Janina Ramirez, who will deliver the next Ebor Lecture at York St John Creative Centre on Wednesday, November 11.

The evening will explore how women throughout history have been misrepresented and how these narratives have influenced today’s gender divide.

Professor Esther McIntosh, director of the Centre for Religion in Society at York St John University, said: "Professor Janina Ramirez is a vital and inspiring voice in the pursuit of redressing the historical imbalance created by male-dominated stories and writers.

"Her work, including the new book Legenda, shines a light on 'herstory' for the purpose of social transformation, inclusion and gender equality.

"We are delighted to be able to host this lecture and book signing at York St John University, with the support of the Ebor Lecture partners."

Professor Ramirez’s lecture will highlight overlooked female figures from the past and consider how a fuller historical record could help build a fairer future.

The Ebor Lectures were established in 2006 to explore the intersection of theology, society and public life.
