A long-standing York nursery has changed hands after 30 years of family ownership.
The Wendy House Children’s Day Nursery in Dringhouses has been sold as its founder, Wendy Wood, retires.
The nursery, on St Helen’s Road, provides childcare and early education for up to 22 children aged from birth to five.
It holds a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted and operates from a detached single-storey building with a large enclosed outdoor play area, staff facilities and off-road parking.
Located about two miles from York city centre, the nursery serves local families and commuters, with good transport links to the A64 and A1237.
The sale was handled by business property adviser Christie & Co. New owners Dominic and Laura Caunt are first-time buyers entering the childcare sector.
Grace Day, Senior Business Agent for Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, said: “It has been a pleasure to act on behalf of Wendy throughout the sale process.
“I am pleased that the nursery has been acquired by first-time buyers who are passionate about the sector and keen to build on the nursery’s success.”
The Wendy House Children’s Day Nursery was sold for an undisclosed price. More details are available about the business here.
