A teenager riding a Sur-Ron electric bike while wearing a balaclava has had the vehicle seized by police.

Officers from the Leeds District Off-Road Bike Team attended an area of Horsforth after receiving information about a rider who was regularly seen using a Sur-Ron electric bike at the same time each day.

Police said the rider was reportedly wearing a balaclava.

Rider stopped by officers

Officers located the rider travelling along the road and stopped him before carrying out a search.

The rider was found to be a 15-year-old boy.

Police seized the Sur-Ron and said the teenager would be dealt with through an out-of-court disposal for driving offences.

Public tip-off led to seizure

The Leeds District Off-Road Bike Team said information from local people had played an important role in identifying the rider.

A spokesperson said: “Information from the public plays a vital role in helping us identify and deal with those using vehicles unlawfully on our roads.”

Police continue crackdown

The seizure forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle the illegal use of off-road bikes and electric motorcycles across Leeds.

Officers are continuing to encourage residents to report concerns about nuisance bikes and vehicles being ridden unlawfully, helping police identify offenders and take action.
